Izzy returns as Freshers arrive

The sun shone, the rain (mostly) stayed away and several thousand new students have become part of the Brunel family this week.
Alongside the formal process of moving in, registering and attending welcome talks and department events, there were a wide range of activities for Freshers to get involved in. The Students’ Union organised dozens of events from chilli eating contests to a petting zoo.

Students were also greeted by the return of Isambardina, or ‘Izzy’ the dinosaur. Brunel’s original mascot from the 1960s made a reappearance on campus to promote our 50th Anniversary and some of the great events that we have coming up. Students were able to win prizes by posting their photos of Izzy on social media, and could post a postcard home to parents for free.
