Danger: Diabolik Book Launch & Film Screening

Danger: Diabolik, adapted from a comic that has been in continuous publication in Italy for 55 years, features a masked master criminal and his elegant companion Eva Kant, who reside in a luxurious and futuristic underground hideout, from where they plan elaborate robberies. A commercial disappointment on its original release, the film’s cult reputation has grown along with that of its director, Mario Bava. This volume in the Cultographies series traces its production and initial reception, analyses its pop art aesthetics and considers its cult afterlife.
