BCAST ReLaunched: Recasting our future…

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to invite all staff to a special occasion to mark the relaunch of BCAST (Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology). By now most of you will be aware of the relatively recent construction and launch of the two “big sheds” in the south east corner of campus. And  as such, Professor Zhongyun Fan and his team would like to take the opportunity to invite colleagues to learn about the exciting world leading fundamental and industrial research they undertake in the field of solidification and casting of light metals. Hear from BCAST colleagues about their achievements since starting as a small research group in 2002; see what research goes on in these impressive buildings; learn about the strategic industrial collaborations BCAST has with companies such as Jaguar Land Rover and Constellium, and the impact support from major funding bodies (such as HEFCE) has on collaboration. And, of course, Professor Fan will tell you about the ambitious plans and vision BCAST has for the future!

There is also the opportunity to visit the two facilities, the AMCC (Advanced Metal Casting Centre) and the AMPC (Advanced Metal Processing Centre), and be inspired by the innovative capabilities of the equipment, which is leading the way in developing the next generation of light-weight vehicles.

Please join us on Wednesday 31st October, starting at 2.00pm, in the Eastern Gateway Building.
Light refreshments will be available.

I look forward to seeing you on the 31st. Please register via this Eventbrite link.

With my best wishes,

Julia
