Discovery Trail

As part of our anniversary celebrations, we have created a fun and informative Discovery Trail around our campus, pointing out areas of interest and showcasing a variety of exhibits from our archives.  Awaiting your discovery are 27 displays located in 13 different buildings on the site.

Highlights include the original Glovebox created by Heinz Wolff and the Brunel Institute of Bioengineering (Exhibit 38 – The Glovebox – A Laboratory in Space.), a photographic display featuring classic campus shots from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s (Exhibit 33 – Vintage Brunel) whilst Brunel Rocks (Exhibit 32) provides a photographic treasure trove of musical icons who performed at Brunel Students’ Union in the 70’s from Fleetwood Mac to Erasure and ELO to the Sex Pistols.

The final exhibit (Exhibit – 50 Imagine50) was voted for by students, staff and alumni from a selection of designs submitted as part of the Imagine50 competition and will be unveiled on Wednesday 6 July 2016 by Prof Julia Buckingham, Vice Chancellor and Principal of Brunel University London, as part of our Charter Day celebrations.  Entitled ‘Connect’ this final exhibit which completes the trail embodies the university’s values of innovation and unity in diversity.

The Discovery Trail is open to all, and displays can be explored between 9.00am and 5pm Mondays to Fridays excluding holidays.

Take the opportunity to explore our past and learn about both the work and the many people who made Brunel the world-class university it is today.
