Live at Brunel, which was a sell-out, saw over 200 guests pack the Antonin Artaud Building to see national treasure Jo Brand brung her unique brand of comedy back to Brunel. Jo was joined on stage by fellow alumni La Voix (aka Chris Dennis, 2001), Andy Field (2015) and Christopher Molineux (2016) in front of an appreciative audience.
The event was produced by the Centre for Comedy Research (CCSR), an international Brunel research centre devoted to the academic study of comedy, led by Director Dr Sharon Lockyer. The CCSR has recently secured further funding to continue with the Centre’s interdisciplinary research which considers the production, content, reception and wider socio-political implications of comedy in a variety of formats and from a range of perspectives.
The forthcoming CCSR Seminar Series, Beyond a Joke: Comedy, Identity and Offence, will take place during the academic year 2016-17. Each seminar is free and open to all interested in attending.
